Not for sure, but the first coin with 5 panel seems to be crude  to me.

Thanks for the link.  Does any one know why the year was not updated for the coinage of 1835, 1840 and 1862 BI coins?  Also where were the master dies producted for these coins?

Mr. Tanka,

Please note carefully the bottom flower on the obverse of the 5 panel variety I have posted. The sepals are pointed. This is a very rare variety in the coins of Victoria.

Are all 5 pannel 1862 Rupee rare or is a there certain variety of 5 panel that is rare?

Dear Harry,

I am posting another photo of the reverse side of the same coin marking in a square the pointed sepals of the bottom flower. If you see the other pictures of Victoria 1862 coins, you will notice that in all the coins the sepals are blunt.

But in this coin they are pointed. Hence it is rare.

Are 4.25 panels regarded as 5 panels? I have one where there is 4 plus panels but the bottom panel is shorter than yours. But it has pointed sepals as indicated by you. I see pointed sepals in 1962 2/0 rupee too.

See the above  coin B/II/1/0. That is 4 &1/4 panels. Now compare the panel in the 5 panel picture. You can see the difference. It has been advised to me that pointed sepals are rare.

Dear Harry and Tanka,

Let me tell you that I am also slowly learning about BI coins from real experts who have been collecting and doing research on these coins

I have given links to three wonderful websites. Please open them and download the pictures on your computer. I have done the same and taken out the printouts and made a file. If you can give me your email address at my email ie. : lakshmikausik [at] yahoo [dot] com I will definitely send you those files. I will also send you an online magnifying glass which will really help you to magnify the pictures on your computer.

This help is for everyone whoever needs this file and the magnifying glass. Please write to me your Email.
