Fake "1933 Indian 2-annas"

I was upgrading yesterday so had a chance to take a close look at a 1933 2-anna piece I had installed in my collection some several years ago. Oops. I was glad to have a genuine example to replace what now looks to my eyes like an obvious fake.

This "1933 2-annas" weighs 6.00 grams rather than the nominal of 5.62 grams that I read in Krause. It has a darker than normal color and extremely porous surfaces.

My guess is that it's a contemporary counterfeit, but if anyone thinks differently, I'd be happy to hear.
