Sultans of Malwa, Nasir Shah, AE 1/2 Falus
« on: February 17, 2012, 04:27:06 PM »
Ticket says S. of Malwa, Nasir Shah 1500-1510   AE13

it weighs 4.30g, can't see a part date or anything to confirm it's attribution,   is it a 1/2 falus ?

Nasir Shah bin Ghiyath Shah (AH906-916/AD1500-1510). It's rather low for a 1/2 falus, which would weight between 5 - 5.5 g.
Ref.: G/G M144.

It is somewhat light but I can't account for why it would be more or less one gram light, is there another denomination other than falus that it might fit?

Not that I know off. The only suggestion I could give is that it may have been struck at another (perhaps illegal country)mint. The symbols on the coin also differ somewhat from those of the usual specimen of correct weight.

I see there is a half Falus M147   weight 4.1 -4.4g with the heart shape symbol, could it be this one?

Good idea, RG. Thank you. Let's hope some can add an overlay.
