Perhaps weakly struck. Another Massey piece can be seen at Reply #11

It seems they had several locations ...perhaps other family members?

Here are some items I prepared earlier, From Scott; British counter-marks etc.

Does the serrated edge look contemporary? hard to tell from the scan.  ???

The three different tokens are very similar but the style of the surname with the f's and s's gives some clue to the various dates of issue.

Just the job for a Welshman to seek answers!  ;D

I'm on it!  ;)

Mention here of activity in Monmouthshire reported in the London Gazette 1852
https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/21331/page/1804/data.pdf

Ahh.  Re serration it would seem it has been held by something in the worn off corner.  There's a dent in the back.  So probably after.

Francis Massey is active in the wine trade on the following dates:
2 Feb 1807  Document Reference: LB/4/1/1662

And interestingly Token N.00013 - Early to mid C19th halfpenny trade token, 'Wines and Spirts by Massey, Ludlow' [sic]. Minted onto a worn William & Mary halfpenny.

Also

At Ludlow, Mr. Francis Massey, wine and brandy merchant, in his 68th year died. The Salopian Journal 16/01/1811

So we've been talking about junior and senior!

It appears he had to appear before a Parliamentary select committee with regard the Ludlow Borough elections in April 1840!
http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=fVsSAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA177&lpg=PA177&dq=francis+massey+wines+ludlow&source=bl&ots=5dUc7dTGJW&sig=6LDzVy2wO-es29hk6lJTIkcfyew&hl=en&sa=X&ei=_p78U6CMOKeP0AWOwYCABQ&ved=0CD4Q6AEwBQ#v=onepage&q=francis%20massey%20wines%20ludlow&f=false

Didn't seem to affect him as he was Mayor of Ludlow from 1846-1847

Confirmation of Scott:
SALOP DIRECTORY, Published by Tibham & Co., Shrewsbury, 1828  Francis Massey is at Bull Ring
Pigot and co.'s national commercial directory for 1828-9 - same

Interesting about the Parliamentary select committee but seems he was only called as a witness.

I see I missed adding this psrt of the entry for Kidderminster.
