This is Quedlinburg Abbey, Saxony Anhalt, Germany. The artist chose a somewhat unusual design: Instead of a frontal, side or aerial view that "occupies" the entire image side, we see the abbey (German page) built into the monogram of emperor Heinrich. Below, the names of the city churches.

This could become an extremely long topic. ;) Here are two from the GDR (images: ddr-muenzen.de) that show churches which are related to famous people:

One, issued in 1983, shows the Schlosskirche in Wittenberg, Saxony-Anhalt. Martin Luther posted his 95 theses there.

The other one, from 1984, shows the Thomaskirche in Leipzig, Saxony. Johann Sebastian Bach worked as a cantor there.

Let's go a little further south, to Italy. Here is a 50,000 lire gold coin from 1999 dedicated to the cathedral in Modena.

And while we are in Italy, here are two coins from the new Arts in the Italian Regions series. One shows Santa Chiara in Naples/Napoli, the other one features Santa Maria Assunta in Aquileia. (More about the second place, which is also a major archeological site, is here.) Images from the mint (IPZS). Those coins are surcharged and have a low mintage of roughly 10,000 pieces ...

Jersey, 2 pence.  L'Hermitage.

St. Helier is said to have settled in Jersey, on the small islet where the Hermitage Chapel now stands.
