Hello,
New member here
I looked through documentation for this coin on Baldwin and could not find any thing mentioned...I do not have a KM catalog, need help with this one.
The coin on the left is from 1803, the coin on the right is from 1808 but there are images on the web with both dates and both types, which got me confused
thanks

Yes, you may be right. I saw a few more specimens too of the 1803 coin and they all look different from the 1808 in the area that you pointed out.
My goal for 2017 is to finish finish my British India copper collection (1/4 anna, 1/2 Pice and 1/12 anna) by year and Mintmark. Any help with missing coins in BU grades is highly appreciated.

The only significant variant in these listed in KM (apart from random off-metal strikes) has to do with the weight.

The 1803 and some 1808 pieces weigh 12.95 g. The rest of the 1808 pieces are lighter, at 9.33 g. KM doesn't give the mintages, but the two 1808 variants have more or less the same catalogue prices in all given conditions.

The Admiral Gardner coins (which your 1808 could well be, given its condition) are, according to KM, the light version. I can't verify this as my only 1808 is definitely an Admiral Gardner one and is in a presentation pack, so I can't weigh it.

The same difference exists for the 10 cash, and again the two 1808 varieties are worth the same.

Thanks for the quick responses, I must clarify that the image on the right is from Heritage and not a coin I have.
