Yes in general  for Victoria, Edward and King George V I have found the 1/2  pice is scarcer than then 1/4 Anna or 1/12 Anna. I also think that the Victoria 1/2 Anna is scarcer than all of the other Victoria coppers.  When you do see the Victoria 1/2  pice or 1/2  Anna for sale they tend to be in lower grade.

This is exactly how coins appeal to me most. An honest workhorse, not a knight in shiny armour. I really like it when patina brings out detail like that. The coin is circulated, but the details are clear enough to be admired. The reason for the black? Many possibilities. In this case, it coud be that the coin has spent a considerable time in air that was rich in ash (where coal was burnt) or dust (e.g. a mining or quarrying operation). However, that's all speculation.

My sentiments Peter! I have a high grade set but do have a second set going having nicely circulated pieces too. The problem comes when the circulated set require a key date coin too!
