Coin Bookings: Hyderabad sets 2013: Round III - High Denominations Included!

Dear Friends

Till now high denomination commemorative coins (Rs 75, 100, 150 etc) were issued only by Mumbai & Kolkata mints. Recently Hyderabad Mint started sale of low denomination commemorative coins (Re 2, Rs 5 & Rs 10) on various themes likes Tagore, Commonwealth Games, C Subramaniam etc.

I understand that Hyderabad mint is also planning to issue high denomination commemorative coins (Rs 100, Rs 150 etc).

I will disclose further details at appropriate time

if that happens we are all in for a huge shock.  i dont think i can afford 4 proof and 4 unc sets for every issue from 4 different mints.

i have a theory that noida mint will also start selling complete sets pretty soon.

paise is there an investment banker position open for me somewhere these medals dont come cheap

I would love to see the Hyderabad Star on a Rs 100 coin.   

However if Hyderabad insists on 'Re-Striking' the coins already issued by Kolkata Mint & Mumbai Mint, then we will be in hot soup.
In such case, I, Oracle & Paise have to plan a robbery at RBI's headquarters. I guess we will require a few sacks of Rs1000 notes to finance the Hyderabad proof sets.

there is no need for me to get involved you and paise can do the job quite effectively.

If the Hyderabad mint issues restrikes from the Bombay or the Calcutta mints , but puts IRS star mint Mark.... I'll simply ignore them ... But I think if they do issue, they'll probably start with their own separate themes like what Calcutta did in 1985 and then 1997 onwards

dont worry ill buy an extra one for each to trade with you for the rare tukaram and company sets 

what is the IRS star?  i thought they would use H for Hyderabad.  we should be looking at 9 sets a year 3 from each mint going forward.  from 2015 we can hope for 12 sets a year.  Projected budget for 2015 around 4 to 5 for me and 45 to 50 for you p.a  welcome to investment banking in coins

I dont know what mintmark they will adopt for the proof coins.

Dear Friends

Till now only Mumbai & Kolkata were issuing high denomination coins. One year back, I informed you about possibility of high denomination coins from Hyderabad mint.

The Hyderabad mint has now started booking of following coins:         

ICMR (Rs 5 + Rs 100)
Civil Aviation (Rs 5 + Rs 100)
C Subramaniam (Rs 5 + Rs 100)
Platinum Jubilee of RBI (2 coins - Rs 10 + Rs 75)

Cost of each set is Rs 3200- Rs 3300. It it not clear if the coins will be proof coins or unc coins.

The mint has also commenced booking of many other low denomination coins.

Then they made plethora of other single coins like C Subramaniam, CWG Games, Bhagat Singh etc in attractive packing(Round II)

Now Hyderabad has started round III of single coins:


RBI (single packings of Re1, Rs2, Rs5, Rs10)
ICMR / Civil Aviation / CAG (single pack of Rs 5)

They have also started making high denomination coins

This is complicating things further for collector ... Till now the Main sets were always released by a single mint.
Now we have the main sets being released from multiple mints ...

Does not make any sense ... looks like they are going to destroy the collectors

Additional Single Coin set would be good ... but full sets ...

The key question is whether the ICMR and Civil Aviation sets coins would have Hyderabad mint mark or Mumbai mint mark. in the latter case it looks like Mumbai int is clearing excess stock through Hyderabad mint for these 2 sets.

Single coin sets are welcome and hope the maintain the same level of packing as they did last time

Would it be possible for any of our Hyderabad members to find out if these high denomination setß carry the star mint mark ... And if there are any other differences minor or major from what the mumbai mint has already given us ?

we dont need to do anything just go on the mint website and you will get your answer.
