Hello and thanks for your assistance.

I am posting a scan of my 1877 British Penny and trying to determine if it is a large date or small date (I love varieties). I am guessing this is a large date but does anyone have a photo for comparison with a small date?  Thanks! Alan

The type is a narrow date - rather than a small date,

Looking at the picture below I think you have the common one  :'( It's perhaps easier to compare with the coin in hand. This one sold £6000 at London coins auction:

always willing to trade modern UK coins for modern coins from elsewhere....

I have never seen a CGS/UK slab. Are they independent, or affiliated with PCGS or other reputabler company? What does CGS stand for?

The site seems rather slow in loading - from here, at least.

Hi, Martin. It won't load here either. Must be a busy day over on the other side......."

It loaded eventually, but took its time!
