Well my guess on 125 years of Victoria Terminus. Started in 1878 and completed 1887-88.

A few others structures but less likely to make the cut:
500 years of Hampi
500 years of Konark Sun Temple
1000 years of Khajuraho
(all three UNESCO Heritage Sites). Though dates are not exactly known for these sites but who knows?

Further few events:
150 years of Calcutta High Court. The first High Court in India
150 years of Calcutta Polo Club. The oldest polo club in the world. Though this just went by, 26th Dec 2011, with almost no notice.
100 years of Mysore Palace. March - April 1912.

all these have had stamps issued onthem.  to make the contest interesting you should disqualify stamp themes otherwise people will get all their guesses from indiapost proposed program and they will win.

I've updated your proposals Peter, but in the interest of keeping this competition focused on 2012, I'm going to disallow Taj Mahal. However, in the offbeat likelyhood this theme does eventually fructify this year, then you are entitled to the prize

                          I heard about the Paradip Port from a friend. So I posted it. This game is getting really interesting. And I am loving it. Here is another guess. But no chance I think. In wikipedia the date is postponed to 2013. Let's see what happens.......
