Sorry for this question, but I'm not familiar with post independent India coins. What are VIP and VVIP coins?  I've never heard of that term.

Just refer to this link for details:

Basically, whenever a coin set is released at some function by a Dignitary, like a Minister, President, etc, the coins are packed in a specially made packing. These specially packed sets are called VIP/VVIP sets.

Dear akhedia ,
You can't buy multiple sets of SAME theme. You can buy one set of each of the themes.

Friends, few months back the mints started counter sale of commemorative coins. But it was shrouded in secrecy. Mints were not disclosing officially which sets were on sale. For that one had to actually go to the counter. The list was being guarded like a state secret. I requested someone to upload the list on website. The list of Mumbai mint has been uploaded on its website

Mumbai mint has also started selling coins issued by the Kolkata Mint (Tagore & Mother Teresa).
