I have contacted sellers a couple of times and the item has been removed immediately.

The most amusing was this one - the end of a bolt; was the seller really that dumb?

Have a look at  my tokens and my banknotes.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Oesho

It is a shame, this coin got sold for $425. Almost all coins sold by this dealer are fake.

Let's look on the bright side, we now have a major case that we can work on.

Well another wonderful chat with Ebay. The best set of excuses why they haven't acted I guess I will ever hear.

However they are looking into the situation again (lol). We have taken a few extra steps from our end.

The show moves on to the next phase.

If there is any way members of the community can help in order to make ebay a safe place for collectors, please let us know..
My goal for 2017 is to finish finish my British India copper collection (1/4 anna, 1/2 Pice and 1/12 anna) by year and Mintmark. Any help with missing coins in BU grades is highly appreciated.

The problem is more complex than it should for a number of excuses. In various countries Caveat Emptor no longer exists as a method of trading (auction or otherwise) but this is ignored by Ebay.

The coin community or perhaps should I say the peers within the selling group take no or very little action against Ebay selling fakes for their own excuses. So a simple problem of stopping outright fraud becomes difficult. I do acknowledge that some sellers do sell, at times, fakes and forgeries unknowingly and even the best of dealers have listed fakes unknowingly. So working through a system is not as simple as it can be.

So we make Ebay suffer as much as they can when they do somehing silly and that is not an easy process. This will be interesting over the next few days given the seller of this coin sells many fakes.

I would be grateful if some advice could be given to me nominating other coins for sale by this seller that are fake. PM if necessary is fine.

How can other members help? Could you please share with us what you are doing with regards to ebay? If multiple people complain this will more likely get's ebay's attention. If you have discussed this in an other older post, please post the link here as I am relatively new to this forum.  Do you have the customer service number in the US that allows you to speak with a person? If so can you please post that number.

Thanks.

I guess akona20 remembers this thread I started about a fake Bombay gold coin-->

http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,9626.msg64528.html#msg64528

Due to his efforts the listing was taken down. The seller has again listed the coin and now at double the initial list price. I doubt eBay had any checks placed on this seller or flagged this type of transaction.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/INDIA-1770-BOMBAY-PRESIDENCY-C649-VERY-RARE-GOLD-COIN-/140621591320?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20bdb33318#ht_2689wt_905

This is very unfortunate and all it seems is we can stop these scam artists for a short while but they will be back and with force. Surely selling fake coins knowingly is a crime in many countries including India. Is there anyone with legal expertise on how to approach these sellers?

akona20

The expertise is available in my team. We have to go through a methodical process with Ebay before further processes can start. That process has proceeded in the last few days further than ever before.

Ebay's defence in previous actions has been sound if you are frightened by size and Ebay is very good at that part of the process. So this time we plod along ticking each box as we move through the process.
