My goal for 2017 is to finish finish my British India copper collection (1/4 anna, 1/2 Pice and 1/12 anna) by year and Mintmark. Any help with missing coins in BU grades is highly appreciated.

I'm not an expert but this one looks clearly fake to me. You don't even have to weight it or measure it or even do the "ping" test, the design is very crude.  Thanks for bringing it to our attention brokencompass.

I have spotted several fakes or fake sales on ebay and have tried contacting the seller and ebay but no one seems to care. You can report this auction to ebay as "suspect fake" there is a way to do that , but in my experience nothing happens. Its just ignored.  I think ebay does a poor in managing fakes, they are too focused on increasing sales and less focused on quality and their integrity.

There are a number of threads that clearly show that Ebay has taken action against listers of fakes including banning from selling. There is a sysyem that does work. I hope some semblance of normality returns here so I can operate on this one.

Coinsforever

Undoubtedly a crude cast forgery .

I 've posted the photos for reference of others, before it disappears from ebay.

Cheers ;D

I reported the items as well as the item location as fake! I used the Report Item option on the item itself and let the seller know that his item is a fake. Let's see what happens.

My problems here have been corrected. Please let me know what happens.

I had notified eBay as well as the seller as soon as the auction was up but did not hear from either. The seller "riyageniunecoinsgallery" seems to knowingly sell these forgeries. He has one more lot of Mysore which is also fake. He has not taken both these auctions down or asked for any clarifications. Maybe if more members contact eBay then they would take some action.

Tomorrow I will initiate our process on this if nothing has been heard.

Oesho

It is in all respects a clear modern forgery. It's probably struck from poorly engraved dies. The lettering in all four scripts (English, Persian, Tamil and Telugu) is extremely poor and blundered.

Noting thatb time is rather short on this auction and the lister has done nothing about the other complaints I have started the process very gently. If nothing happens in the next 6 hours then things will get stronger very quickly.

I also note rather sadly that on another coin site that is a commercial one there is a shameless denigration of one of the still great coin selling groups that has been published and allowed to stand. Coin sellers have to make a living but exploitation of position and power to gain an advantage over others is outside the bounds of ethics.

I would be rather surprised if this listing was not removed in the next few hours.

Can you please share with us what you do to get fakes removed, or at least to get ebay to investigate?

I have reported on this a number of times before.

As a small group we have spent some time investigating methods within the Ebay system of reporting fake and fraud coins.

Each individual seller is reviewed and a plan devised.

Major fake sllers, for example, are acted upon in a different way to those who possibly unknowingly list a fake.

It should be noted that even the best of sellers on Ebay and other places can be fooled by a fake or two so one or two fakes in many does not a criminal make, at least in the first instance.

There is also a necessity to establish a level of credentials with Ebay that you actualy know what you are talking about. This is why we have a small group of experts and that is why I will ask for other opinions when a fake is reported before action is taken.

Ebay does not make it easy by any means and the system has taken some time to establish correctly.

We will see what happens here.

Well despite hand on heart Ebay advice that the coin would be pulled by now it is still there.

So I am hoping it remains in one way or another because there are no bids so no one will be really decived.

We have waited for around 8 months to proceed to the next stage against Ebay and a fake Pagoda looks like being the trigger.

With Ebay central office currently closed a minor variation on the theme is being attempted.
