Friends

I also received my Hyderabad single coins. The quality of the packing is superb. Quality of the coin is also better than circulation coins.

Been sometime that I got my sets ... I could help noticing that on Page 5 of the sets, the mint has used a consistent design and shows the image / art work of the coin itself ...

I am linking all the 11 designs ...

While some are nice art works ... other are shoddy picture of images with some reflection in it? and others are images of Mumbai mint coins?

Inviting some comments as to why mint did what they did ...

Nice observation Dheer  :D  :D  :D

I tried to find some logic in the images:

(a) For Mother Teresa, Bhagat Singh, Tagore, Braille, I Tax & Prasad they have not used any mintmark. This is OK as these coins were originally issued by Kolkata.

(b) For Subramaniam Hyd has not used any mintmark (most circulation coins from its original mint - Mumbai dont have the mintmark.)

(c) Gur Ta Gaddi has star. It can be accepted as the first Gur Ta Gaddi coins outside proof/unc sets were issued by Hyd).

However there could be two inconsistencies:

(a) They have used mintmark of Mumbai for CWG Games when the coins were originally issued by Kolkata.

(b) They have used star for Brihadeeswarar temple

It is also possible Dheer that Hyd used the images in random order without giving a thought to the mintmark. They could have simply copied the images of coins of other mints.

It would have been better if the mint has used 'Star' in artwork of all the coins to show that these were Hyderabad issues.

Nice observation kanasal ji..

rightly said that it would be much appreciable if they have used their mint mark on these designs..

But as already discussed, Hyd has done great job when its come to packaging and design.

Louise, Income Tax and Prasad they used a nice art work [ie did not go in for coin photo]
Similarly there was also the art work of Gur-Ta-Gaddi [used in first cover] and Mother Teresa, which the mint could have used ...

Specially Mother Teresa and Subramaniam, the coin photos looks unprofessional ... i mean quite a few of us here could take better pictures of coins ...

Forgot all about it ... the Rs 2 Games is only from CHN and not from 'M' ... so this is quite strange ...
