Commemorative coins issued

MUSCAT: The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) has issued gold and silver commemorative coins on the occasion of the inauguration the Royal Opera House and a silver coin depicting the coloured logo of Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) to commemorate the silver jubilee of the university.

The coins are legal tender for their face value and can be purchased from the CBO. The Royal Opera House coins have the coat of arms, the name of the Sultanate of Oman, the name of the CBO and face value in Arabic and English on obverse. Some coins depict pictures of the Royal Opera House while others depict coloured pictures of various musical instruments on reverse.

A silver coin depicting a picture of the Royal Opera House is priced at RO27, three sliver coins depicting coloured pictures of various musical instruments are priced at RO28 each and a large silver coin depicting a picture of the Royal opera House is priced at RO59. A two-coin set, one gold and one sliver, each depicting pictures of the Royal Opera House, is priced at RO758, while a four-coin set, one silver coin depicting a picture of the Royal Opera House and three silver coins depicting coloured pictures of three various musical instruments, is priced RO89.

The silver commemorative coin of the Sultan Qaboos University has the coat of arms, the name of the Sultanate of Oman, the name of CBO, and denomination in Arabic and English on obverse and the coloured logo of SQU on reverse. The coin is priced at RO24.

The prices of the coins are subject to change in accordance with the variations in the prices of the bullions in the international market.
