Actually, Cail is the constructor only. This type of steam press is known as a Thonnelier press, for its inventor (1833). It is the French counterpart of the Geman Uhlhorn press. Both worked by leveraged action - a bit like your leg, operating a foot pump to inflate an air-filled toy. Capacity would be around 100 coins/minute.
