BI issues three new bank note designs

Bank Indonesia (BI) issued new bank note designs for the Rp 20,000, Rp 50,000 and Rp 100,000 bills on Friday in commemoration of Youth Pledge Day.

"Bank Indonesia issued new bank note designs with upgraded security system," BI Deputy Governor Ardhayadi said on Friday as quoted by Antara news agency.

He said the upgraded security system in the new bank notes was rainbow printing on the money. The central bank also changed the code for the blinds.

Ardhayadi added that bank notes issued in 2004 for Rp 20,000, 2005 for Rp 50,000 and 2004 for Rp 100,000 would still be used.

"People can get the new bank notes starting on Monday at all branches of Bank Indonesia," he said.

BI director for money distribution Muhammad Dahlan said the bank issued 7.6 million notes of Rp 20,000, 103.5 million notes of Rp 50,000 and 125.8 notes of Rp 100.000 in the first phase.
