These coins remind me of the unhappy history of this region. It is a source of some pride that both countries involved have voluntarily become members of the EU, making past and present borders a relic of the past.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Something has been bugging me for a while about my Čechy a Morava coins (I have the 10h 1944, 20h 1943, 50h 1940 and 1942, and 1 korúna 1941 and 1944). All of these are medal alignment* apart from the two 50h coins. Given that both pre-1939 Czechoslovakian coins and the coins of the occupying forces had been medal alignment, it would be natural for this to continue. My copy of KM doesn't mention anything about variable alignments. Can anyone shed any light?

* Yes, I know there are people who don't like the terms 'coin alignment' and 'medal alignment', but until someone comes up with a universally accepted and understood alternative, they'll have to do!  :P
