Bahrain: unrealised designs

Here are some old, rather brown, photos I found in the National Archives, London, showing unrealised designs for Bahrain from the early to mid 1960s. Unfortunately, no details of the designer were included. The first set of designs included a dolphin motif, whilst the second set included a variation on the theme of the palm tree that was eventually chosen for some of Bahrain's actual circulation coins.

Those top view dolphins are innovative. I bet they'd look good on a bi-metallic coin. Thanks for publishing these interesting drawings!

UAE coins of the 1970s onwards are OK. Modern Algerian ones (moving on to N Africa) are superb, as is the new 2011 Morocco set. Let's hope these last two set off a trend of thematic designs for that region of the world.
