Hi,

Yesterday picked up couple of Rs.5 coins on 150 Years of Income Tax but the mint quality of the coins is extremely poor. The coins with me are UNC but looks as if it has been used for the last 10 years.......Thanx to  Kolkata mint...

which city did you buy them from and what was the cost per coin?

I am from Kolkata and bought this from Kolkata itself @ Rs.10/- each (through a contact). As per information these coins would be in circulation very shortly

Don't mind. Finding a bangali on WoC I became excited. Now I got the the meaning of 150 years.

@ akhedia and Islam-- great to find 2 bengalis on WoC.. I'm as u can guess I'm also a bengali.. I'll be in Kolkata from 31st to 6th sept.. can u tell me from where can I can get this( income tax) coin.. n I also wanted to buy some british india coin at reasonable rate.. Can akhedia suggest some place.. I guess Islam is from the other side of the border!!

Btw the minting quality of calcutta mint is going down by the days... the portrait of Chanakya is hardly recognisable and can only be guessed!! God save Calcutta mint!! hope the coin looks better in hand than in the pic..

Got a 5 rupee income tax coin yesterday...got it for 20 rupee.. And I was really sad to see the quality of minting!! It's pathetic to say the least!! It was as U wud have guessed by now comes from kolkata mint!! Such a good design ruined!! anyone heard the income tax coin from any other mint??
