The Kolkata mint uses Blue Dart and they are very diligent in going to octroi paying the stuff and adding a service charge of rs 100 more for paying the octroi ... so essentially they get Rs 100 more per courier from us ;0

While the Mumbai Mint uses Speed Post who are not bothered ... [they haven't yet received the circular from Municipal Corporation to start collecting the Octroi] ;0

Today, I talked to Kolkata Mint regarding my sets. I was told that the Gwalior office of Blue Dart does not handle Precious items, and hence, the coin sets will be dispatched by INDIA POST, and hopefully, will be delivered by 10th Feb.

@josephjk

How do you get charged octroi for a Mumbai mint coin that delivers within Mumbai - is it packaged somewhere else? Or is it a different mint?

we r back to square one.  i have long maintained that the mint does not know how to produce unc and proof coins.  there were very few sample available previously but as is pointed out with these pictures they are doing a very shoddy job.  Proof costs more than unc sets and Santosh can rightly complain that he has got nothing that adds value in his proof coins set.  maybe 5rs coins have a difference?

Apart from difference in level of frosting, I am unable to detect any other changes.
BTW Oracle Ji, do you know how frosting is done?  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

Vivek

Also would like to know ...Are UNC coins up to Proof grade or Proof grade is not up to mark ???
