nothing is impossible post pics please

Abhay

The SCWC lists 3 varieties for Anna Series 1/4 rupee. The details are:

KM # 5.1 Large Lion, 1950 (B), 19050 (B) Proof, 1950 (C), 1951 (B), 1951 (C)
KM # 5.2 Larger Date, Large Lion, 1954 (C), 1954 (B) Proof, 1955 (B)
KM # 5.3 Small Lion, 1954 (C), 1955 (C), 1956 (C)

So, there are three different types of 1/4 rupee coins, but for 1954, there will be only 2 different types, as you have rightly mentioned.

Krause is full of errors (you can write a book on it)  and varieties occur only if you have more than one type in the same year

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

you will be better off with a new book KM is too far gone to make any sense in trying to salvage it.  The Americans have their red book we should have a similar endeavor but funding remains the biggest thorn in our flesh

Friends,
As promised, I am posting the photo of 2 types of 1/4 rupee coins minted by Kolkata mint in the year 1954. I may be excused for the late in uploading the photo, as the circumstances that led to this late posting was beyond my control.

Thank you all. Happy hunting.

Abhay

Thanks a lot for the images. The difference in the size of the Lions is quite distinctive.
