Ahmad Shah or Muhammad Shah - Please Help.
« on: June 21, 2011, 08:33:58 AM »
this coin was sold to me as a coin of Muhammad Shah Azimabad. The mint looks Azimabad but I am not too sure as the other coin of Azimabad that I have is different and looks like the coin in the SCWC.

I was also told that the RY is Ahd Mubarak instead of the normal Ahd. Please help.

The coin seems definitely to read Azimabad and is dated AH113x/Ry.Ahd,  issued in the name of Muhammad Shah (not Ahmad Shah).
The only curiousity is the crude workmanship of the legend. All coins of Azamabad are of neat and rather fine calligraphy. This legend is of such a debased workmanship that I am a bit suspicious whether it is a product of the regular mint, but a contemporary counterfeit issue.
