In 2018 Gibraltar issued a one-year 2017-dated set, commemorating the 1967 referendum.

The set included 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 pence coins, and also 1 pound and 2 pounds coin.

The common reverse design featured the coat of arms of the Government of Gibraltar.

In 1976 Syria issued a FAO-themed set of circulating commemorative coins.

FAO = Food and Agricultural Organization (of the United Nations).

The reverse showed the Tabqa Dam, also known as al-Thawra Dam.

It is situated on the Euphrates river.

It appears within a circle made of a half gear and an oat sprig.


The denominations were 5, 10, 25, 50 qirsh and 1 lira.

The coins were made of brass and nickel.
