No.

According to the Royal Mint there were 500 Million (give or take a couple of million) £1 coin dated 2016 minted.

It’s only considered “rare” if the main date on the obverse doesn’t match the micro-dating in the reverse (and there have been reports of such coins).  I gave up long ago getting the magnifying glass out in the hope of finding one.  The main date would have to be 2016 or 2017, with the micro-dating being the opposing date.

I've only heard of them being one way round, with the main date of 2017 and the microdate 2016, not vice versa. But the other may also exist, of course.

You’re probably right.  I wasn’t sure which way round it was, so was trying to cover all options!
