Numismatic heritage: old designs honoured on modern commemoratives

In 1991 Australia issued a coin commemorating the ram shilling. In 2011 it repeated the trick on a dollar coin.

In 2012 Australia celebrated the old wheat threepence by reproducing its design on a special dollar coin.

In 1994 Papua New Guinea issued a silver 5 kina collector coin.

It commemorated the bird of paradise design found on the coins of German New Guinea of the 1890s.

Ireland has recently revived the old pre-decimal designs on commemorative collector euro coins.

However, it has amended the original designs to add young animal offspring that did not appear on the original design.

Not a good idea, I think.

Hercules originally appeared on a circulating 5 francs, was re-used on a 10 francs that did not circulate but could be had at face value and was used again on non-circulating pieces of "50 francs" and "100 francs"

Here's the 1992 French franc - the reverse also repeats the design used from the early years of the Republic into the mid-1800s:

... and used again, in a "modernized style", on non-circulating collector coins in 2011 and 2012.

That style is similar to what we see on the French "mid-range" (10, 20, 50 cent) circulation coins. Those pieces show the Semeuse (Sower) ...

... but those who prefer the old style can get Roty's sower on collector coins. A new one is issued every year; one side always shows the Sower, the other one is dedicated to a specific occasion. This year's piece fits is here nicely, as both sides are basically copies.

Which coins qualify for this topic?

If the coin has exactly same design as the 'old' coin or if it commemorates coinage of one particular ruler. If it shows random selection of coins from a given time period, that would go under 'coins on coins'..
