This Dam, about 20.5 grams, appears to be from Narmol Mint (km 28.41?) and appears to me to be dated X64 in the reign of Akbar. If I'm right, that would make it AH 964 or 1557 AD.  The image below it was indentified as being from Narmol Mint and was pulled from http://www.vcoins.com/ancient/ancientcoinscanada/store/listCategoriesAndProducts.asp?idCategory=207.  However, they have made mistakes before in designations.

We've looked at other dams before:

and

What do you think about this one?

On the second coin you show, the date is 968.
The 5 in during this early period of Akbar's reign was writen as a reversed 3.

Rangnath

Thanks Oesho.
Honestly, I half suspected that I was wrong in assuming that the reverse three was an Arabic numeral!  Akbar's court wouldn't have done that, would they? They would have used Farsi numerals and their derivatives only.  Right?

Akbar's court wasn't different. The common way to write a 5 during the Sultanate period, the time of the Suri's and the early years of Akbar, was in the form of a reversed 3 (ε).
