I would have no interest in it personally so have no feel for what value it has. Not sure why NGC would slab such a thing other than the fact that they apparently consider it an error. I wouldn't describe it that way...it's simply a unstruck planchet.

There are collectors for this kind of material no doubt and I've always encouraged people to collect what interests them. After all, my own numismatic interests are eclectic at best. :)

Yes "ERROR" is a poor description. Planchets are often made for a mint by some other company. So some planchets (especially from a group of many many millions) will escape being struck by the mint because they do not even get delivered to the mint.

Also - some mints might give out unstruck planchets as samples (officially).

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

If you're interested in valuing the planchet you might want to search auction sites for past sales. Ebay is a good choice.

I'm not a young collector and, of course, I know what to do.
I just want to hear your opinion

You ought to decide for yourself what to collect.

Personally, I would not spend any money on this, not only for the reasons given above, but also, if the other side is also blank because it is not even sure which mint was meant to strike it.

I have seen a number of un-struck planchets before. They are very smooth and have an even metal colour. I am not sure whether the object in your photo is fingerprinted or otherwise tampered with, but it doesn't look like the planchets I have seen.

Thank you, medved. Those photos reinforce my impression that (formulating this very carefully) the planchet was not ready for striking. The last preparations for striking are annealing and polishing/washing, which would produce a smooth surface with the colour of new metal all over.
