Hello...
I need your assistance to ID this coin:  0.9g  ||  13mm  ||  Copper/Bronze

I personally have no clue... but I got it in a mix of Islamic/Ancient Asian/Indian coins...

Thank you in advance for your help...  =))

Figleaf

I have been staring at your coin for some time, as I think I have seen that knot at the left end of the divider before. Memory failure ... bleep bleep bleep.

Peter
An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I also have a feeling that I've seen it somewhere... now I am thinking, maybe the orientation is wrong...  I am not sure... and, too, bad the second image has no details visible... :/

Dear mti, may be the orientation of the first photo is in this way, which shows the word " Bi-Allah بالله " or digit " 9 ٩ " at the bottom.

Sooooooo....   I did another search on Zeno with plus/minus 0.4g  and plus/minus 2mm, in both AR and AE...

and here's what I found, the horizontal bar with ornaments at each end resemble this coin (right image): https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=129772
this coin (also right image):  https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=9555
and this coin (left image): https://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=224069

Thus, this is where we could've possibly seen the similarity...  No match to my coin, however.  Will keep looking

Dear mti, attached is a Harer (Ethiopia) coin, with a similar horizontal bar in first photo, does that help?

Maythem, hi, hello... :))

First of all - Thank you...

Second, Your coin does, indeed, have the similarity more than the ones I found earlier... what is the size and weight of the Harer coin you've illustrated...?!!?  maybe we are on to something...?!?!  ;)

Figleaf

See this thread, in particular reply #1, picture harar62.jpg and reply #5, second picture and reply #54. This should be KM9.

Update:  I've searched Zeno one more time with "Harar" and I found a whole selection of similar coins, here:  https://www.zeno.ru/showgallery.php?cat=2577&page=1

The most common date from al-Harar mint on these pages is AH1284...

My coin, however, still needs to be read for a date... Perhaps, it is a variation of the "al-Harar mints' " coin...?!?!

mti

Hello everybody, I know it's been a while since we last posted about this coin:

But here's what I am trying to understand:  the first image comes from here http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,3793.0.html
it has deciphered text of similar coins with "The Harar" written and the date below...

if we use the same idea with regards to my coin = the second image... then, what do you suppose is the written date on it...?!?!  I can't exactly read it...

please take a look with fresh eyes and kindly let me know... thank you in advance...  :))

Good point. When I am in a constructionist mood, I read 1297 down below, but when I get back on earth I note the extra loop and the difference in size of what I took for figures. I also see what could be the top part of an Arabic 9 up above, but that would require turning the photo 180°.

Thank you Peter...

So if it is 1297, then it makes it ca. 1880 AD... That means the Harar was administered by the Egyptian Khedivate, at that time frame.  The Egyptian Khedivate, in turn, was a protectorate of the Ottoman Empire.  Very interesting I must say...  :))
