The coin seems to be quite scarce.

Interesting that the motif on the old diram coins moved up to the newer somoni coins.

In 2019 Tajikistan issued yet another new coin series.

The denominations consisted of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 dirams and 1, 3 and 5 somoni.


The diram coins were all made of brass-plated steel.

All the diram coins had a common obverse that featured the national emblem.

Below you see the obverse of the 2 diram coin of 2019.

2019 series removed crown from the denomination side of 1, 3 and 5 Somoni coins.
Any specific reason?

None that I know of. Maybe they just wanted a bit of variety in the designs.
