Here I will deal only with old designs that are found on regular circulating coins that are still being issued. I will NOT include old designs that appear on special commemorative circulation coins.

The 'youngest' designs that I will include are those from the 1970s. I believe that most countries have updated their designs at least once since the 1970s, but many designs probably still exist from the 1980s - too many for me to show.

Australia.

Australia adopted its decimal coinage in 1966.

The 1 and 2 cents coins have since been demonetised.

The 5, 10 and 20 cents coins are still issued in their original size and weight.

They are now relatively large and heavy compared to other countries' coins.

Belize.

Most of the designs of the current coins of Belize date back to 1973 and 1974.

Even older is Mary Gillick's crowned portrait of the Queen.

That portrait appears on the denominations lower than a dollar.

It dates back to 1953 and is no longer used by any other country or territory.

The dollar design dates from 1990.

The lower denominations of Botswana's coins still show designs from 1976, when its first coin series was introduced.

These coins are mostly much smaller than the original coins and/or differ in shape or metal content.

Canada.

Canada introduced its current series in 1937.

The 1 cent coin was demonetised in recent years, and the coat of arms on the 50 cents has been updated.

Otherwise, the three designs seen above still grace the coinage.

The schooner design on the 10 cents has been modified, but it remains the same essential design.

See: Canadian coinage since 1937.
