Oesho

The mint is either Akbarabad or Allahabad.
For a similar rupee Akbarabad see: http://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=15134 http://www.zeno.ru/showphoto.php?photo=55784
On all the coins of Akbarabad, there is a s like symbol to the left of the Akbarabad indicating the letter Kaaf
On the coins of Allahabad, there is no Kaaf in the name and thus the area to the left of Allahabad is blank. That is what is seen on this coin. Therefore as mintname it should read Allahabad, but as type (KM#226) it is not observed for Allahabad mint as yet.
New discovery or die-cutters error that's the question. Difficult to say.

Figleaf

Very interesting! Worthy of reporting to KM, I'd say.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

Finally checked the mass today---it is 11.3 g.

Here is a comparative view of the region mentioned by Oesho.
