This coins features a gold-gilded bronze statue of the ancient Shu civilization discovered in Sanxingdui.

Wiki:
QuoteThe discovery at Sanxingdui, as well as other discoveries such as the Xingan tombs in Jiangxi, challenges the traditional narrative of Chinese civilization spreading from the central plain of the Yellow River, and Chinese archaeologists have began to speak of "multiple centers of innovation jointly ancestral to Chinese civilization."
...
This ancient culture had remarkably advanced bronze casting technology which was acquired by adding lead to the usual combination of copper and tin creating a stronger substance that could create substantially larger and heavier objects

It was, until annexed by Qin, by all means an independent civilization, with a visible link to bronze-age culture of Shang and Zhou.

There is a reason why I dislike contemporary PRC coins, they are plain and uninspiring, therefore wasting great topics.

Chuan

Bronze Drum of the Zhuang

China

10 Yuan

The bronze drums are rather central to many cultures and civilizations in almost all countries in Southeast Asia.
This is especially true for Vietnam. But they haven't yet minted any coin for it.
