USA $1 1972.jpg

The first such set I ever remember seeing was a USA circulation set, back in the 1970s.

Apparently the Eisenhower dollar never circulated, except in casinos.

Portraits of some of Romania's historical figures were included in the circulation series.

In the year 2000 the 1000 lei was added.

Jamaica began a new design series of National Heroes in 1991, gradually replacing the old flora and fauna series. The series was completed in 2001, with the issue of a 20 dollar coin honouring Marcus Garvey. The same design had also appeared on the 25 cents and 50 cents coins at various times, but the 20 dollar coin was evidently a sign of high inflation in Jamaica. Some of the new coins appeared in various shapes, sizes and metals, over the space of a few short years.
