This episode of Dads Army shows a few amusement machines in the background, with use of the Crane machine in particular, in the amusement arcade at the end of the pier in Warmington-on-Sea.

I wonder what was the true location of this pier.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

That places it to the Britannia Pier, Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth.

A bimetal token is known from there, a modern piece.

Are the machines from the appropriate time?

According to this site -
Britannia Pier, Lowestoft (just a little down the coast)

Yes they are exactly as I remember them from the fifties.

Apparently that is wrong. According to this site Great Yarmouth is correct.

Quote:
Lowerstoft Lifeboat Shed and Britannia Pier, Great Yarmouth were both used in the location scenes in 'Menace From the Deep'. Lowerstoft Lifeboat Shed was used for the scene where Mainwaring, Wilson and Frazer were getting in the boat and Britannia Pier was used for the final scene where the platoon shoot at the floating mine

Here is a British Pathe Film showing Great Yarmouth 1974

Here apart from Britannia pier at Great Yarmouth, both Bottons and Joyland get a mention.

Botton issued two two tokens: BOTTONS PLEASURE BEACH GREAT YARMOUTH 1 TOKEN, one in brass the other in S/Steel; both 26.7mm.

Joyland's token simply states: JOYLAND and NO CASH VALUE  steel 24mm.

Here is an early postcard showing a group of machines on Ryde pier. This little group would be worth a small fortune today.  ;D

Ryde Pier is an early 19th-century pier serving the town of Ryde, on the Isle of Wight, off the south coast of England. It is the oldest seaside pier.
