If you wish, I can also add an early St. Helena token that saw circulation.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.

I have a very, very worn token, I shall try to remember to upload this later today.

Here it is.

PAYABLE AT ST HELENA BY SOLOMON DICKSON AND TAYLOR / SDT monogram ONE HALFPENNY

I see that I shall have to soak it in olive oil for a week.

What about this token counterstamped OD?

malj1

Pure speculation of course but could this be Dickson from the group of merchants called Solomon, Dickson and Taylor who issued the halfpenny token?

Good idea! But what about the O?

FosseWay

What was the aforementioned Dickson's first name? Oliver? Oswald? Obadiah?

Afrasi

FosseWay

 :(

Clutching at straws: Did he have a son with a name starting with O?

Afrasi

No info in my data base, but I contacted the Museum of St. Helena.

Afrasi

Adam of the Museum of Saint Helena replied prompt and friendly, which cannot be said of all Museums I asked for help. Alone they, too, have no clue and suggest OD being initials.

Afrasi

Just arrived! :-)))
