Need help with identifying this coin - had no idea how to place this.

saro

first coin : Iraq 4 fils / Faisal I -1933 /1352 AH
2nd coin : Zanzibar 1 pysa 1299 AH
"All I know is that I know nothing" (Socrates)

Figleaf

These two coins are a fine contrast in modern and not-so-modern Arabic writing. With Plant's book in hand, you can decipher all texts on the Iraqi coin, but the Zanzibar pysa will be more difficult. This is why the list of Arabic mint names in KM is better than nothing, but not very helpful. You wouldn't find those names in modern script.

BTW, the Zanzibar coin should be copper. I suppose this is a B/W illustration.

An unidentified coin is a piece of metal. An identified coin is a piece of history.
