Fantasy Island

I found several places calling themselves fantasy island, none using this logo or font. White metal, 7.2 grams, 27.8 mm.

If you turn the logo upside down, it starts to look like a map of Greenland or India. Smelling upside down asparagus again...

My assumption - as in wild, really wild guess - is that the piece has something to do with the Fatnis/Fantasy Island resort in Egypt. http://en.egypt.travel/attraction/index/fantasy-island  Once you agree with me, you will suddenly see a palm tree and a (somewhat badly drawn) pyramid. And if you don't agree ... you may have a point.

Now that is good speculating, Christian. Actually, I'd held it upside down all the time until I spotted the palm tree and decided it must be somewhere near Brighton, where they have penis-like mountains rising up from the flats.

I can picture the scene. I sit there in the small Egyptian café, watching the sunset, eyes all dreamy. The waiter, sword in belt, fez slightly askew and fiery black eyes rolling, demands payment for the tea served and I give him the token and a big smile. I can only hope one of the two other tourists will have his camera ready for my beheading.

I remember the TV series from the late 70's early 80's ,   the little man shouting  'the plane the plane!! when the next load of tourists were arriving

Someone who had been there told me of this a few years ago when they must have had a token to show me. It will be (or was) a ride token... more likely than a slot token. I believe I have one of these tokens.

The logos have perhaps changed since then....  but the pyramid is still there.

One of these Fantasy Island tokens from Skegness is on eBay at present at a good price of one penny, but, however the postage to Oz is £500 ! 

...the same deal for all his other items.

I think the dealer is a racist who does not want to send overseas. I have reported to eBay but there no provision for actually reporting exorbitant charges as far as I can see.

Well, the seller states that "For non UK destinations i just picked £500 to cover all the other countries in the world.If you are from outside the UK and are interested in bidding on the item,please contact us before you start bidding and we will give you an accurate price for postage to your location." I don't use eBay any more, but as far as I can tell, there are lots of people who will sell to their "compatriots" only. Not due to being racist but simply because everything else is not worth the effort in their opinion. Take it or leave it. In this particular case, however, it may make sense to actually ask the seller about UK>AU shipping costs ...

Not worth the trouble in this instance. He appears to be what we in Oz call a "whingeing pom" and he is best to be avoided.

I feel I have one of these tokens somewhere but I can't find it.
