Title: Cypriot banknote,coin,& medal-coin catalogue.
Post by: BC Numismatics on August 08, 2007, 04:26:59 AM
Does anyone know if there is a specialised catalogue that lists all the banknotes, coins,& medal-coins of Cyprus, which have been issued since 1879? I know that such a catalogue would have prices in Cypriot Pounds, but it would be nice to have as a reference.

I think Pridmore (Europe) is still the best source for modern coins and tokens. For older coins, there are several publications of the eminent Andreas Pitsillides (A. G. Pitsillides), who is also president of the Cyprus Numismatic Society. Current coins and banknotes are listed by KM and Pick.

Peter,it's a real pity that none of the coin dealers that are listed in the Cypriot Yellow Pages online have either a website or an email address.I was hoping that we could try & contact someone in the Cypriot numismatic trade to get Cypriot coins directly from there.

If you Google around a bit with the above info, you should find addresses. If you are only interested in trades, Google around for one of the big trader sites, like this one (http://www.geocities.com/georgioscoins/GoodTraders.htm). I found it by Googling: "good traders" coins Cyprus. You should be aware that many of these sites are not up to date, so the approach requires patience.
