I attended the session yesterday through YouTube live streaming. Although my collecting interests are much different from what was being discussed, I enjoyed listening to the speakers. :)

Good for you, Aditya. That's exactly what we do in the WoC live events: make it possible for people to listen to interesting people and their stories from other corners of the World of Coins ;) It's necessary to specialise as a collector, but it's fun not to lose sight of what others do and possibly pick up an insight or inspiration that helps you with your own collection.

In a week's time, we will have a migrant collector, talking about learning the history of his new homeland by way of medals, an economics professor and numismatic author, diving deep into the symbolism on coins of his country and - a complete contrast - a professional sailor explaining how coins are souvenirs of his travels. I hope you can attend.

I was out and could not log on to the talk on ZOOM. However, since it was live streamed on YouTube and on Facebook, I could follow it (well at least most of it) on YouTube. It was indeed interesting. As Peter said, it did not concern the areas of my collecting interest but, some of the points raised, gave me some ides which I could use in some of my research.
I'd recommend attending such talk shows to all collectors, whether the talk is of a subject that is a part of their collection interests or not. Something will surely come of use ........
One of the positives of the Pandemic is these online talks........ meetings did happen earlier but were only for those who could attend. Now, it is of all across the globe. The amount of knowledge sharing has increased manyfold.

Hi Peter,

I would love to participate in our forum's online meetings but...part of the problem is that those are held over Zoom which is strictly not allowed due to security reasons on the PCs provided by my company.

I am using my personal laptop as well as office desktop (remotely connected to my laptop). As such, it should not be an issue if I install the zoom app on my laptop but then there is another problem: I am working on a confidential project which is an IP-2 job, so I am not sure if installing zoom app will violate any of the client's requirements (strictly speaking, nobody will ever come to know what I have installed on my laptop). There were few eyebrows raised when some people (related to project) came to know that I am using a personal laptop and not a company provided one and I was told just to keep mum henceforth to avoid any possible objections from anyone. :D

As long as the company machine and your own machine are not both on your home LAN, I would think there is no problem, but I am no expert. In theory, if your neighbour has a computer against a wall that your computer is close to on the other side that is a larger problem. However, I would expect such techniques to be used by pro spies and not be very efficient ;)

Yes, Zoom had security issues a good while ago. So had all its competitors. In the latest version, things have improved quite considerably. Read more here (https://www.forbes.com/sites/kateoflahertyuk/2020/07/02/zoom-security-100-new-features-later-can-you-trust-zoom-yet/). I use FaceTime and like it a lot, but it will only work on Macs. I have no experience with Signal.
