Title: 34th year of kuang Hsu dollar
Post by: thoyles on June 30, 2020, 02:07:58 PM
Hi,
Im wondering if someone could help me with this chinese dollar? Is it authentic? I've had it since the mid 90's but know there are loads of  fakes around.
It weighs 26.8 grams.
kind regards Tom

Weight is acceptable. If diameter is OK too (should be 39 mm) that would be reassuring, though I'd still like to have a jeweller look at it (should be 0.900 silver). I am not too fond of the colour. I would have liked it more satiny-grey. However, that could be the light. Coin should be ↑↑ aligned.

Design looks OK and so does the edge: on most Chinese fakes, the reeding is too coarse and deep. In conclusion, looks OK.

FWIW: Pei Yang mint, Chihli province, Y73. Weight is indicated on the coin as 7 Mace 2 Candareens. RY 34 is 1908 AD.
