Post by: BC Numismatics on July 09, 2007, 12:30:07 PM
How many of you are aware that the Pitcairn Islands have had their own medal-coins? Well, they were issuing them between 1988 & 1990.They have started issuing them again,as shown here; http://www.government.pn/shop/indexCoins.html .

The Pitcairn Islands are the only British colony in which the New Zealand Dollar is the official currency.

The British High Commissioner to the Dominion of New Zealand, currently George Raukawa Fergusson (himself the son of the late Lord Ballantrae, who was a Governor-General of New Zealand),is also the Governor of the Pitcairn Islands.

You can find some information about the Pitcairn Islands here; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitcairn_Islands .
