Obverse (Second photo):
Center field: ضرب شوشتر بنده شاه ولایت عباس , " Zarb Shushtar banda walayat Shah Abbas". Date is " 1005 ۱۰۰۵ " in the center at 10 O'clock.
Margin: خلد الله ملکه وسلطانه وعلی العالمین برّه واحسانه ,"Khalad Allah Mulkahu wa sultanahu wa ala alalameen berreh wa ihsanahu".
Reverse (First photo): Shiite formula (Kalima) " لا اله الا الله محمد رسول الله علی ولی الله ", La illah l'Allah Muhammad rasul Allah, 'Ali wali Allah.
Margin: Legend including names of the twelve Shiite Imams: حسن (علی) حسین (علی) محمد جعفر حسین موسی علی محمد علی محمد , " Hasan ('Ali) Husayn ('Ali) Muhammad Jafar Hasayn Musa 'Ali Muhammad 'Ali Muhammad ".
Shah Abbas I, was the 5th Safavid Shah of Iran, and is generally considered the strongest ruler of the Safavid dynasty. He was the third son of Shah Mohammad Khodabanda.
