Title: solomon islands coins
Post by: Mister T on June 08, 2019, 04:28:01 AM
Hopefully someone can help - I collect Solomon Islands coins and catalogues report a number of coins but in 4+ years of looking I have never seen the following coins.

1c 1989
2c 1989
5c 1980 (without mintmark)
5c 1987
5c 1989
20c 1978 (without mintmark)
20c 1987

Can anyone confirm that any of these coins exist?

The only one of these known about in 1994 was the 1978 20 cent.

I can confirm the existence of 5 cents 1980 and 20 cents 1978, both without mintmark.
I have them both in my collection

The reverse of each piece pictured above does include the FM mintmark - it is quite small and it is an "F" and an "M" that are one in front of the other (not side by side).

Thanks Mr Paul Baker

You're right africancoins. They are so tiny I missed them. Even with the coins in hand I had to search for them.

So, I am sorry, Mister T, but I cannot solve any of your problem coins...

Oh interesting - thanks.
The 1978 20c and 1980 5c seem unlikely as no other circulating coins were issued in those years but the others seem possible.
