Title: Great Mongols (Chingizid), Qa'an al-adil, AR Dirham, Tabriz
Post by: capnbirdseye on March 21, 2019, 05:25:56 PM
Identified by S.Album on zeno as: early Ilkhan, Qa'an al-'Adil series, AR dirham, hexagram obverse, Tabriz mint, AH6xx (struck in 643, then 650-671, mainly at tabriz), A-2132.  2.37g

follow up comment by another user:

"Well, since this type was struck in 643 and since 650, so well before establishing the Ilkhanid dynasty in 654 by Hulagu. Neither there is any reference to the Ilkhan, just to supreme Mongol ruler, i.e. khaqan."

Now moved to section: Great Mongols (Chingizid), 603-ca. 670s » Qa'an al-adil » Uncertain ruler » Tabriz

Dear Vic, Abaqa Khan was the second Mongol ruler (Ilkhan) of the Ilkhanate. The son of Hulagu Khan and Lady Yesünčin, he reigned from 1265 to 1282 AD and was succeeded by his brother Tekuder.
