Title: Afghanistan, civic copper of Ahmadshahi with flowers / 1204 AH?
Post by: saro on November 01, 2018, 11:18:07 AM
8,75g / 19mm
Only a part of the mintname is on the coin : "zarb falus A(hmadsha)hi " " ضرب فلوس احمدشاهی ۱۲۴۷  "
The flower pattern of the reverse is a mix of Valentine 63 & 66 and the obverse is similar to Val.68, but this type is not a mule.
dated 124(7?) AH; not sure that at 5 o'clock it's the last digit of the date but better only an ornament? rather 1204 (dot between 2 & 4)

Another interesting type!
1204 would be 1789 so quite early, alternatively it could be 1240 where the dot is lost

You are right : 1204 fits with Taïmur Shah and coppers of this time bear usually his name; 1241 is also an option (with "1" immediately at right of the "r" of "zarb" ?
