I got this today and found it amusing and would like to know how thise "stripes" can have been produced?

I think these are "stress marks" (http://www.worldofcoins.eu/forum/index.php/topic,24317.msg160777.html#msg160777), the result of sloppy or unsophisticated production methods. High grade Roman coins often have them between the letters of the legend.
