Title: Alderney wants to issue "Bitcoin" Coins
Post by: chrisild on December 01, 2013, 03:10:07 PM
When you read about Bitcoin, haven't you always thought of how nice it would be to have a tangible Bitcoin gold coin? Well, Alderney would like to help out. :)

"The three-mile long British crown dependency has been working on plans to issue physical Bitcoins in partnership with the UK's Royal Mint since the summer" - more at http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/4903fc9a-591f-11e3-a7cb-00144feabdc0.html

They can always issue (pound) coin(s) commemorating bitcoins. ;D

It's all about making money, so who cares if it's a pound coin or bitcoin or whatever. ::)

For some in Alderney it apparently makes a difference. ;)  Guess this is all about the novelty effect: "LOOK! The world's first Bitcoin which is an actual coin and actually legal tender!"

(As usual, the fine print will not be part of such a headline, hehe.)
