Title: French National Library to put 130,000 coins online
Post by: chrisild on January 14, 2013, 11:19:39 AM
The National Library (Bibliothèque Nationale de France) is making its collection of ancient Greek coins, and provincial coins from the Roman Empire, available online. Once completed, about 130,000 pieces will be available at the library catalog (http://catalogue.bnf.fr/) website (in French).

Currently the search seems to be a bit cumbersome, also because the query tools have not been adapted to coins yet. Here is some more info (http://www.coinsweekly.com/en/News/4?&id=1713) (in English) for anybody who is interested. And this is a brief manual (http://www.bnf.fr/documents/coins_catalogue.pdf) or introduction (PDF, English) about how to access and search the database at this stage.
