Hi Overlore,

You have a nice French 2 centimes, struck with the (bare) effigy of emperor Napoleon III.
Your coin was struck in Lille, capital of French Flanders (mint letter W).

Napoleon III, born as Louis Napoleon, was the son of Louis Napoleon Bonaparte, king of Holland and brother of emperor Napoleon I Bonaparte. He became in 1848 the first chosen president of France. After a coup-d'├ętat in 1851, he proclaimed himself emperor in 1852. He was deposed after the defeat of France in the French-Prussian war 1870-1871, .
